چکیده

This paper studies ways to detect good users for biometric recognition based on keystroke dynamics. Keystroke dynamics is an active research field for the biometric scientific community. Despite the great efforts made during the last decades, the performance of keystroke dynamics recognition systems is far from the performance achieved by traditional hard biometrics. This is very pronounced for some users, who generate many recognition errors even with the most sophisticate recognition algorithms. On the other hand, previous works have demonstrated that some other users behave particularly well even with the simplest recognition algorithms. Our purpose here is to study ways to distinguish such classes of users using only the genuine enrollment data. The experiments comprise a public database and two popular recognition algorithms. The results show the effectiveness of the Kullback-Leibler divergence as a quality measure to categorize users in comparison with other four statistical measures.

A Preliminary Study of a New Soft Biometric: Finger Recognition for Keystroke Dynamics

Keystroke dynamics is an interesting biometric modality as a user can be authenticated while typing a passphrase or a password on a keyboard. In order to improve the accuracy of biometric systems, it is possible to exploit some prior information that can be known or extracted from the biometric raw data. This process is known as ”soft biometrics”. In this paper, we propose a new soft biometric ...

Security System Based on User Authentication Using Keystroke Dynamics

−Keystroke Dynamics is behavioural biometric used to measure the typing rhythm of the user when an individual types on the keyboard. It is assumed as a robust behavioural biometric. The functionality of this biometric is to measure the dwell time and flight time for changing keyboard actions. The paper focuses on enhancement of security using individual’s typing actions to distinguish between a...

Digital Fingerprinting Based on Keystroke Dynamics

Digital fingerprinting is an important but still challenging aspect of network forensics. This paper introduces an effective way to identify an attacker based on a strong behavioral biometric. We introduce a new passive digital fingerprinting technique based on keystroke dynamics biometrics. The technique is based on free text detection and analysis of keystroke dynamics. It allows building a b...

Keystroke Dynamics in a General Setting

It is well known that Keystroke Dynamics can be used as a biometric to authenticate users. But most work to date use fixed strings, such as userid or password. In this paper, we study the feasibility of using Keystroke Dynamics as a biometric in a more general setting, where users go about their normal daily activities of emailing, web surfing, and so on. We design two classifiers that appropri...
